Organization background

For over forty six years, Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) has been running programs to promote Indian classical music, dance and other cultural art forms amongst youth, with the ultimate goal of influencing their way of life and thinking, inspiring them to become better human beings, while playing a crucial role, preserving India’s heritage for future generations. SPICMACAY is a volunteer-driven, national organization that runs over 5,000 programs reaching over 3 million students every year.

SPICMACAY's programs include lectures, demonstrations, interactive workshops to inspire and educate children & youth about their culture and heritage.

Project background

Programs will be held across schools and colleges from both rural and urban areas in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry for children ranging in ages between five and twenty five years old.

SPICMACAY will run lectures that include a classical concert with a main performer and accompanying artists; group folk programs; workshop demonstrations where the artist will describe and perform the art form (vocal or dancing), along with student participation and intensives, where students will get a deeper look into the art form.
