Project background
Of the religions practised today, Hinduism is one of the most ancient.
This religion prescribes a mode of living for individuals,
as well as activities to be
carried out by the broader community (rituals, studies, etc.).
These activities prescribed for the community are
enthusiastically carried out in Hindu temples and ashrams, all over the world.
GKF provides financial support to temples and ashrams, with the goal of
preserving and nurturing the Hindu religion and culture.
From 2008-2012, SRM acquired a place (6 acres) in Franklin township for constructing a Perumal
temple. Next, the Utsava Moorthy's were brought from India (2012), and the temple was
inaugurated. In the next stage (2013-2014), construction of a Balalayam (mini-temple to house the Utsava Moorthy's)
was started. In 2014-2015,
the Moolavar (main deity) was brought from India, along with the necessary adornments, and the main temple construction began in 2016 and is expected to
end by 2022.
