- Location : Pune, India
- Community Served: Children
- Focus: Social/Education Assistance for orphanage
Organization background
Saraswati Anath Shikshan Ashram is an orphanage located in the
slums of Dapodi, Pune that houses
around 50 orphaned children.
Children are typically referred to the orphanage from
individuals and government agencies.
The children live in dorms and are usually under 10 years old when they enter
the orphanage and leave when they are around 20 years old.
They attend
local public schools, and after they turn 18, they are provided vocational
training.
Project background
The orphanage is owned by SASA and is housed inside a compound.
Initially, they only had
some rooms on the first floor, but have been expanding their
built up space on the first and second floors.
Currently, 5 children at SASA attend university, however they do
not have a space to study. SASA also wants to increase the
digital literacy of the children at the home so they require a
space where children can get hands-on experience with computers
and funding for a computer teacher.
