Organization background
Saraswati Anath Shikshan Ashram is an orphanage in Dapodi, Pune (3.5 hours drive from Mumbai, India). It has around 50 orphans and is located in a slum area of Pune. The children are housed in dormitory style rooms with bunk beds (separate rooms for boys and girls). They are typically less than 10 years old when they enter the orphanage and leave when they are around 20. They go to local public schools nearby. After 18, they are given some vocational training.

Project background
Children are typically referred to the orphanage from individuals and other agencies, but because of the scarcity of space, they are often turned away and referred to other organizations. They want to add to their existing building so they can accomodate more children. The orphanage is housed inside a compound and comprises of an L-shaped building (ground floor), with only a couple of rooms currently built on the first floor. They want to extend the construction on the first floor, and are soliciting funds for this extension.

Project description
The project is to extend the first floor part of the building by adding an additional two rooms. GKF will pick up all of this cost.
