Organization background
Established in 1999 by a group of pediatricians,
Reach Out and Read of Greater New York (ROR) seeks to create a
foundation for literary success by incorporating books into
pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud with their children.
They provide culturally and developmentally appropriate books to
pediatricians to present to families with children from birth to
five years of age.
Project background
Reading aloud together, telling stories, and sharing
books, create lasting & meaningful connections
between caregivers and their children.
ROR amplifies their impact by reaching parents & caregivers
right from the newborn stage; encouraging parents to
establish reading routines and motivating children to succeed in the future.
