Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University
Organization background

Since 1981, the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts (LIUTilles) has been entertaining and enriching the community through arts performances, education and advocacy. Annually, over 150,000 people visit the Center to enjoy the artists whose work span all genres including music, dance, comedy and theater.

They also support thousands of children and adult learners each year by providing arts experiences to underserved communities; individuals on the autism spectrum and seniors.

Project background
As a community cultural service provider, the Tilles Center has traditionally provided cultural programming that caters to the demographics of the region. In an effort to serve the interests of Long Island's diverse demographics, the Tilles center features performances from world-class artists in various genres.

To address Long Island's growing Asian-indian population (as of 2021, they represented 8% of the island's population), a few performances are focused on Indian traditional art forms and culture.
