Organization background
Since 2005, Help The Blind Foundation (HTBF) has been
helping visually impaired students become more self-sufficient.
They do this through a variety of ways:
- providing financial
assistance to enable them to obtain degrees from local colleges
- providing learning aids such as laptops, and recording devices
- providing
vocational training and life-skills training
and conducting career awareness workshops
Project background
HTBF runs a holistic skills development program called
Education, Mobility, Employability Training (EMET) with the objective of
making students employable.
This program includes a 2 year training program for students in their
second & third year of university; equipping universities with
accessibility tools; training students in English,
computer & mobility training and other life skills;
assistance securing employment and providing job specific training
whenever needed.
GKF contributions to HTBF
- 2022,2023: Funding to provide the EMET program (skill training and scholarships) to visually impaired students
