Adruta
- Location : Bolangir, Odisha, India
- Community Served: Children
- Focus: Social/Educational Assistance for orphanage
Organization background
Adruta Children Home is a unit of RAWA Academy
that runs 11 residential homes for abandoned children.
The home provides free accomodation and access to free education and
healthcare services. The children are sent to English medium
schools. Adruta also provides training on arts, music, dance and
physical education.
Though these children homes
are duly recognised by the Women & Child Development Department,
Govt. of Odisha and are registered under Juvenile Justice Act, Govt. of India,
Adruta receives no financial aid from the government and is supported only
by the community i.e. likeminded individuals and organizations.
Project background
Bolangir is one of the poorest regions in the state.
The Adruta Home in Bolangir was started around 2010 in rented premises,
with support from
local businesses and other patrons to support operating costs.
Unfortunately, this is not a consistent source of funding,
and they have to move children to other homes or move resources from
other locations to provide for the children.
Also, around 2017, Adruta started construction of a new building
to house the children.
